Camp Lejeune Water Contamination: What You Need to Know

To get benefits for a disease caused by Camp Lejeune’s contaminated water, you must prove these things:

  1. You served at Camp Lejeune for at least 30 days between August 1, 1953, and December 31, 1987.
  2. You have a disease listed in the official rules (38 C.F.R. § 3.309(f)). This list includes:

Cancers: Adult Leukemia, Aplastic anemia and other myelodysplastic syndromes, Bladder cancer, Breast cancer, Esophageal cancer, Kidney cancer, Liver cancer, Lung cancer   Multiple myeloma, and Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Other Conditions:

  • Female infertility  
  • Hepatic steatosis (fatty liver disease)  
  • Miscarriage  
  • Neurobehavioral effects  
  • Parkinson’s disease  
  • Renal toxicity (kidney damage)  
  • Scleroderma
